With reason number one, I recently torrented Croteam's excellent Serious Sam 3. Statistically, pirates don't pirate because the game is free, they pirate (1) to make sure that the game isn't ass and (2)because they try to avoid DRM. I find the people who are against piracy to be terribly misinformed. I played through the whole thing on PC, only issues I had were a few crashes due to SecuROM (General Protection Fault, grrrr).

As Gabe Newell said, the best way to prevent piracy is by making it as easy as possible for the legit people to access and play it, not through DRM. Then Ubisoft starts whining about PC sales and pirating. Because the pirated versions always have the DRM removed. $60 is just being greedy.Īnd DRM only hurts the people who buy the game legit, sadly. Even EA had Dead Space 2 at $5 on Steam sale, which came out this year.
